Mission

Through collaboration of land conservation and forestry organizations MMC innovates and accelerates land conservation in the 5 million-acre Maine Appalachian Mountain Corridor.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • Provided $110,000 in Transaction Fund grants to five land conservation projects in Maine's Northern Appalachian Mountain Corridor that will permanently conserve 52,000 acres of ecologically valuable undeveloped forest. Launched the Exemplary Forestry Investment Fund an impact-first timber investment fund meant to blend impact investment and tangible environmental outcomes for Maine's forests. The first property-specific fund, Scammon Ridge Headwaters LLC, purchased and conserved 3,000 acres in Greenville Maine near Moosehead Lake for sustainable forestry, public access, and improved wildlife habitat. Convened the eleven Maine Mountain Collaborative member organizations to share information about emerging conservation projects, common challenges, and emerging opportunities. This level of collaboration has led to new conservation projects that may not otherwise have been possible. Served on the Conservation Delegation to the Wabanaki Commission on Land and Stewardship to provide coordination and collaboration between Wabanaki Nations in Maine and the conservation community.
