Mission
MICAH envisions a metropolitan area where everyone without exception has a decent, safe, accessible and affordable home
Program accomplishments
- MICAH has expanded our Speakers Bureau- We are your Neighbors with over 14 people who have experienced homelessness, housing instability or discrimination from the diversity of folks in our community involved in sharing their stories. They have been presenting their stories, barriers to accessing resources and their solutions to Congregations, Minnesota Interagency Council on Homelessness meetings, State and National Conferences and at the State Capitol. This has been coordinated by a MICAH Board Member, Linda Soderstrom and funded primarily through Catholic Campaign for Human Development. MICAH six regional chapters work with people impacted, faith communities, organizations, policy makers and community members to prevent homelessness, address immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness and to rehab and develop a diversity of rental and homeownership opportunities. All six chapters held a Community Housing Fair in The fall. with 30 to 200 people participating in those events We did a metro -wide/all chapter Policy breakfast, where over 100 people attended in person and via zoom, to share local concerns with policy makers and for policy makers to share how they are trying to solve those concerns. MICAH continues to provide leadership in advocacy and education at State and local led by people who have experienced homelessness, housing instability or discrimination from the diversity of folks in our community. We expanded our Leadership in Homes for All, a Statewide Campaign, to provide create resources for entire continuum to housing. MICAH continues to work on two public transit lines, the Purple and Blueline by ensuring stops meets the needs of people with limited income and ensuring people are not displaced from their housing and/or small businesses in the development of the transit line.Expenses $120,906
