California organizations
If the organization is in California, you can add Form 199 for $49.99. California 990-N returns continue in the full editor, which adds the Form 199 financial pages (balance sheet, revenue, additional information) and a signature on Form 8453-EO. See Form 199 with 990.tax.
Questions
Do I need to sign a 990-N?
No, not on its own: “Form 990-N needs no signature.” If you add California Form 199, an officer signs Form 8453-EO for the state return.
Our receipts were over $50,000 this year.
Then the 990-N may not be the right form; check the “normally $50,000 or less” test. If the test fails, the app tells you that you need a different form (Form 990-EZ).
