Form 199 with 990.tax
Reviewed
Price: + $49.99 on top of the federal return (990-N + 199, or 990-EZ + 199).
What you add
- California numbers: your State Charity Registration Number (from the Attorney General’s Registry) and your Corporation or Organization No.
- Financial pages. With a 990-N, the IRS form has no financial statements, so the California pages ask for a balance sheet, a revenue statement and additional information. With a 990-EZ, the editor adds a Form 199 page and an additional information page.
- Signature: an officer signs Form 8453-EO for the California return (and Form 8453-TE for a 990-EZ); see Sign Form 8453 online.
What happens after you pay
- We send the federal return to the IRS. California shows waiting for IRS acceptance.
- Within an hour of IRS acceptance, we e-file Form 199 with the FTB.
- The FTB usually answers in 1 to 2 business days. We email you the result.
Download the Form 199 PDF, and the pre-filled RRF-1 (and CT-TR-1 for 990-N filers), from the return in your account.
Questions
Can I file Form 199 on its own, without the IRS return?
No. 990.tax files Form 199 only together with your 990-N or 990-EZ.
Can I file a 2025 Form 199?
Not yet: the app says “California Form 199 is not available yet” for tax year 2025.
The FTB rejected our Form 199.
Your account shows “California: needs fixing” and we email you. We fix FTB rejections with you by email at [email protected].
