Mission
Optimize health and education outcomes for all young people in Minnesota through access to integrated health care in schools.
Program accomplishments
- In 2025, MNSBHA continued its work as Minnesota's statewide capacity-building organization for school-based health centers. As a grantee of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) with expertise in implementation, planning, and improvement, MNSBHA provided technical assistance to seven established networks of school-based health centers (SBHCs) and 17 emerging initiatives across the state. Building on its first year of operation, the Alliance continued to improve its SBHC Readiness Assessment, survey the SBHC workforce about needed support, maintain an electronic "Basecamp" for shared materials, advance a plan for uniform data collection across SBHCs, participate in statewide conversations about the impact of school-based health centers, and offer a Lunch and Learn series for the school-based healthcare Community of Practice. Additional 2024 activities included expanded programming, development of a Youth Council, and new tools for building sustainable school-based practices. After 50 years of steady growth averaging 2%, SBHC initiatives are now growing at a rate of 60%, with a focus on advancing rural programs. Annual outcomes include evaluation and data collection, guidance on adolescent care, and ongoing technical assistance to school districts. The Community of Practice meets monthly for training and collaboration. MNSBHA also builds relationships among organizations with aligned missions, including state offices, children's healthcare providers, community-based organizations, health professionals, educators, and lawmakers. In 2025, MNSBHA convened a statewide Summit attended by more than 250 healthcare professionals, educators, community leaders, and other partners, featuring interactive learning, networking, mentorship, panels, and keynote presentations focused on strengthening school-based health systems and expanding equitable access to care for Minnesota's young people.Expenses $344,146 · revenue $23,741
