Mission

KANSAS HEADQUARTERS, INC. IS THE SUICIDE PREVENTION LEADER IN KANSAS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING SUPPORT, EDUCATION, AND CRISIS SERVICES FOR ALL TO IMPROVE PUBLIC HEALTH BY PREVENTING SUICIDE AND SAVING LIVES.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • HEADQUARTERS KANSAS (HQK) IS DEDICATED TO THE DELIVERY OF THE 988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE SERVING AS THE PRIMARY CALL CENTER FOR 102 OF THE 105 KANSAS COUNTIES. THROUGHOUT 2025, HQK RECEIVED 31,264 CALLS AND 12,431 CHATS/TEXTS. WHETHER BY CALL, TEXT, OR CHAT, HQ WAS AVAILABLE 24/7 TO MEET KANSANS IN CRISIS THROUGH WHICHEVER FORMAT FELT RIGHT FOR THEM. ATTENDED 91 TABLING EVENTS WITH APPROXIMATELY 21,730 PEOPLE ENGAGED. PROVIDED 36 PRESENTATIONS WITH OVER 1,100 PEOPLE BETTER UNDERSTANDING THE CRISIS SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. COLLABORATED WITH OVER FIFTY PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE AND EXPAND 988 SERVICES. REACHED OVER 4.5 MILLION IMPRESSIONS THROUGH DIGITAL CAMPAIGNS TO PROMOTE 988. PROMOTION AND AWARENESS FOR OUR ORGANIZATION BECAME EVEN MORE IMPORTANT IN 2025. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, HQS LONGSTANDING LOCAL CRISIS LINE TRANSITIONED TO THE NATIONAL 988 LINE. HELP SEEKERS CALLING THE LOCAL LINE (785-841-2345) WERE PROMPTED TO PRESS 2 TO BE CONNECTED TO AN HQ COUNSELOR OR ANOTHER 988-CALL CENTER IF THE CALL ORIGINATED OUTSIDE OF THE HQ SERVICE AREA. NEW RESEARCH FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO REVEALED THAT 988 REMAINS LARGELY UNKNOWN WITH ONLY 10% OF ADULTS REPORTING THAT THEY ARE VERY OR EXTREMELY FAMILIAR WITH 988. KNOWING THAT FAMILIARITY DRIVES ACTION, THE PROMOTION AND EDUCATION STARTED IN 2025 WILL CONTINUE TO BE A FOCUS FOR OUR ORGANIZATION IN 2026.
