Mission

To provide needs based programs that equip marginalized youth for a successful transition to adulthood. Our target population consists of young adults from foster care situations, young adults who have been incarcerated, and those who are at risk of systems involvement. We offer career navigation, construction skills training, and job placement services. We assist our clients with a wide range of needs, including housing, food needs, communications, and transportation.

Program accomplishments

  • There are four facets to our programs and services, which are designed to help the young adults we serve access quality employment as quickly as possible. We primarily serve three demographic groups: youth from foster care, justice involved youth, and youth at risk of systems involvement. There is a great deal of overlap between those groups. For example, 25% of individuals in prison were involved in foster care at one time. The services we offer can be summarized in four categories. Career Navigation helps young adults identify career interests, establish goals, identify and address barriers to employment, and improve their employability. We assist clients with job searches, resume preparation, interview prep, and locating potential employers. Vocational Training opens doors to jobs that may otherwise have been inaccessible. We offer a nationally recognized certificate program from the Home Builders Institute (HBI: PACT). This pre-apprenticeship program provides a foundation to students interested in working in many construction trades. Post-Employment Support is necessary for many of our clients as they may lack traditional support systems. We stay in contact with our students for as long as they choose, and work with employers to support our clients. We provide financial support for up to one year after employment and help them navigate job losses when they occur. Supportive services include addressing common barriers to employment, including obtaining vital documents, getting a phone, finding health and housing resources, mentoring, and help with other basic needs.
