Mission

Expanding ESOPs, Inc's mission is to research, educate and inform the public about the benefits of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), as well as researching ways in which private and public enterprises could partner in an effort to expand the use of ESOPs, thereby facilitating millions of working class Americans obtaining stock ownership in their employer.

990 for the year ended May 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Narrative Building- By commissioning opinion polling; delivering speeches and participating on panels at conferences; drafting and publishing op-eds from frontline employee owners and company founders; and conducting media outreach, we worked to increase awareness of broad-based employee ownership and the need to expand ESOPs to build worker wealth and stronger companies.
    Expenses $294,610
  • Coalition Building- We built a coalition of organizations united by the mission to dramatically expand employee ownership. For the first time, a broad cross section of the employee ownership community is coming together not just to service or protect employee ownership in its existing form, but to bring its benefits to more workers and companies across the country. We've grown to nearly 100 organizations, including financial institutions, ESOP service providers, law firms, foundations, advocacy groups and more.
    Expenses $89,839
  • Policy Development- Via engagement with our coalition members, a listening tour of large companies and more, we've begun work to develop a comprehensive policy proposal that would unlock ESOP activity at large companies across the country and economy. We started by identifying the roadblocks preventing large companies from adopting ESOPs and then working through various ideas to overcome those hurdles via modernizing the 50+ year-old ESOP law
    Expenses $87,500
