Mission
To improve conditions of renters in the Denver Metro area of Colorado through community building, education, and policy.
Program accomplishments
- 1) advocacy around public health enforcement and implementation. The purpose was to provide local city and county agencies with stake-holding opportunities with impacted households through which to improve their service provision. This is about 20% of our expense. We accomplished a year-long stake-holding session through which public health officials learned about community needs and experiences and have modified some of their practices in response.Expenses $46,616 · grants $46,616
- 2) Community outreach as a program area. Households impacted by unhealthy housing conditions received individual outreach. We spoke to over 950 households and provided them with Know Your Rights Information as well as referrals to local agencies where appropriate. That is 70% of our expenses.Expenses $163,157 · grants $163,157
- 3) We make legal referrals and do some community building programming which, taken together, are about 10% of expenses. We made approximately 40 referrals for legal aid or rental assistance. Our grants are not targeted to one specific area, they fund all these activities.Expenses $23,309 · grants $23,309
