Mission
CalTravel protects and advances the interests and investments of Californias travel industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education.
Program accomplishments
- We set an attendance record for annual Tourism Advocacy Days in May, 2025. 105 members met with 92 legislators & staff to share tourism industry advocacy priorities. Reception afterward included 21 legislators and staff. 82% of members rated it excellent.
- The CalTravel Summit in Oceanside in October 2024 brought together over 440 travel professionals to hear insights on key issues, exchange ideas, discover new possibilities, build crucial relationships, and get inspired for the year ahead. Event had 64 speakers, 60 content sessions, and 72 sponsor partners. 95% of attendees rated the event very good or excellent.
- We screened and/or read over 2,350 bills to determine impact on industry; tracked 91 & positioned on over 20. Our staff served as a lead witness on several bills & gave expert testimony in multiple committees. We coordinated a legislative informational hearing on the current outlook of Californians tourism industry. 5 bills we supported were signed by the Governor. And we helped stop 7 bills we opposed from reaching the Governors desk.
