The VDC program provides Veterans the opportunity to receive home and community-based services (HCBS), supporting them to live independently in their homes. Veterans manage their own monthly budget to directly hire workers and/or purchase goods and services to meet their needs in their home and community. VDC is modeled after self-directed programs, a method of providing long-term services and supports (LTSS) in which individuals determine the services they receive. This includes hiring their own workers and purchasing goods and services from a pre-determined budget and spending plan. The individual receiving the services, or their authorized representative, is the employer of the workers providing services to the individual.DO Network - DCRC is the regional coordinator for the DO Network, a statewide initiative that connects advocates, service providers, and community partners to coordinate efforts supporting individuals with disabilities. The network facilitates statewide efforts through regional collaboration, resource-sharing, and collective problem-solving to address systemic barriers in areas such as housing, transportation, and long-term services and support.Empowerment & Transition Network (ETN) - A developing coalition focused on bridging gaps in resources for system-impacted youth with disabilities. The network builds partnerships across organizations and institutions to improve access to services, support successful reentry, and address systemic inequities.Bridges to the Community Program - A pilot program in collaboration with some divisions in the LAPDs West Bureau that strengthens coordination between law enforcement and DCRC. The program facilitates referrals of non-violent individuals to community-based support services while providing training and resources to law enforcement on appropriate disability-related response.Peer Support Specialist Training Training individuals with mental health disabilities for employment in advocacy and support roles through the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.Assistive Technology Enrolling eligible individuals in California's Voice Options Program, which provides communication devices and software for those with limited or no speech.Emergency Preparedness & Response Assisting individuals with Access and Functional Needs (AFN) in preparing for and responding to natural, technological, and human-caused disasters. DCRC coordinates community-wide emergency education, response plans, and stakeholder collaboration.Food Distribution Program Addressing food insecurity by partnering with farmers markets, food banks, and government programs to provide weekly food distributions to people with disabilities. Additionally, DCRC connects members to supplemental food programs and government benefits.Transition Services Providing support and guidance to adults and youth to divert or move from institutional settings to community-based living or post-secondary school life.Beyond these services, DCRC provides technical assistance, education, and community outreach on a broad range of disability-related issues, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have the tools and support they need to live independently and fully participate in their communities.
