Program accomplishments

  • The Sonoma Valley Next 100 began its operations in 2024 by promoting the establishment of and Independent Special District to serve Sonoma Valley and the quest to keep the potential development of the Sonoma Developmental Center property in scale with the Glen Ellen community. To further this goal, our educational programs included:1. Participation in correspondence and in person with the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors during the call for testimony at public meetings.2. Five public viewings of the award-winning film "Small is Beautiful" regarding fire and life safety considerations in property development.3. Meeting with local media regarding development issues.4. Communication with government officials regarding development.5. Prepare for legal action to assure fire safety, evacuation strategies, historic preservation, climate control, and wildlife corridor protections.6. Participation in the Sonoma Valley Tomorrow consortium of like-minded organizations to further the goals of Sonoma Valley Next 100.7. Establishment of a website.8. Development of a successful signature drive for a ballot initiative.
