Mission

Supernova Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and advancing the culture, history, and community of Ska music through education, artistic collaboration, and cultural exchange. We create opportunities for artists, students, and fans to connect, learn, and celebrate this globally influential music by producing programs such as Amplifying Talent, Roots and Routes, and the Supernova International Ska Festival. Our mission is to empower the next generation of creators, strengthen local communities, and honor Ska's legacy as a movement for unity, inclusion, and positive social change. Through live music, mentorship, and storytelling, we ensure that Ska's spirit of togetherness continues to inspire audiences across generations and around the world.

There were over 3000 attendees at the 2025 festival including adults and children. • Amplifying Talent is an education and workforce development initiative to give students hands-on experience in live music production, media, and event management. Students from Hampton University ran the livestream at the Supernova International Ska Festival in September of 2025 as part of this program and experienced filming and production tasks as well as technology based implementations of the streaming systems. The livestream reached fans in 40 states and 15 countries. The alliance received a total of $12,900 in grants specific to the Amplifying Talent efforts in FY 25 however, only $7,900 were received for the FY 25 event. • Sponsoring other nonprofits working in music education. The Supernova Alliance contributed donations to the Alpha Institute of Music, a historically important music school working with students in Jamaica at the heart of the foundation of ska music. The partnership also assisted the school with some smaller donations after a hurricane to help them repair damage. Though the school is in Jamaica, students from the school do travel to participate in the Alliance activities at the Supernova International Ska Festival. The school is officially sponsored by St. Mary's located in Ohio in the US and the donations were made to that organization to be managed for the school.
