Mission

Welcome to the South strengthens urban communties by redeveloping blighted homes into affordable housing abd providing programs that support housing stablilty ,youth development and parenting education. Through seasonal outreach events,educational initiatives we work to uplift the underseved families and revitalize our neigh5borhoods.

Program accomplishments

  • During the tax year, Welcome to the South provided a variety of programs and services designed to strengthen and uplift the Frayser community of Memphis TN 38127. Our organization operated a summer blight program that engaged approximately 30 youth,ages 8-18, throughout summer break. Participants cleaned and maintained one main street per week, helping improve the appearance and saftey of the neighborhood while promoting civic responsibility and enviromental stewardship among local youth. In response to community needs ,Welcome to the South donated 40 winter coats to students at Hawkins Mill Elementary school, ensuring that children wihtout access to warm clothing were protected during the colder moths. We also hosted a Back to school drive , where we distributed over 200 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to local students. To support families during holiday season we conducted a Thanksgivig Turkey Giveaway,providing over 200 turkeys to the households in need. While the organization did not recieve any grant funding during the reported period , we successfully redeveloped several blighted residential properties in the community , converting them into affordable housing options for underserved families. These redevelopment efforts contribute to long term neighborhood revitalization and provide stable housing for residents who need it most.
