Program accomplishments

  • CareSource Mission exists to strengthen and support individuals receiving publicly funded healthcare in all aspects of life. This includes advocacy around items such as provider and benefit access, the importance of care management, education, employment, and nutrition. Taken together, they all have an impact in the government funded healthcare space in areas such as low birthweight deliveries, infant mortality, medication utilization and adherence, and emergency department utilization. (Continued on Sch. O)A broader aim of CareSource Mission is to promote and advocate on behalf of the Medicaid managed care system so that it can best and sustainably serve the members who rely on its important and effective services. To accomplish these goals, CareSource Mission develops outreach and education strategies specific to the needs and issues of the states it serves. CareSource Mission will lobby state and local elected officials on Medicaid and related coverage issues and will serve as subject matter experts to policymakers on evidence-based ways to address healthcare access, cost, and outcomes. Over the past couple of years, CareSource Mission has had several meaningful accomplishments including: defending the industry against gold-carding and prior authorization legislation which will inherently increase costs to members and taxpayers, helped drive efforts in multiple states to make sure members are receiving their care through one insurer and expand the availability of Care Management to individuals enrolled in Medicaid. Most recent efforts have centered around ensuring an adequate glidepath on federal Medicaid changes.
