Mission
To provide resources and support to individuals in need within the community by offering clothing, household goods, and assistance to improve quality of life.
Program accomplishments
- Program Service Accomplishments: In 2022, Claus Cares, despite its recent formation in April, focused on laying the foundation for its community support initiatives. The organization's primary activities included: - Planning and Setting Up Support Services: Began preparations to establish a clothing and item closet to provide free goods to individuals in need. The goal is to create a resource hub where community members can access clothing, household items, and other essential support. - Community Engagement and Fundraising: Initiated engagement with local businesses and planned fundraising events to generate support and awareness for Claus Cares' mission. Fundraising activities include monthly events where a portion of proceeds are donated to the organization. Although operational activities are in the early stages, Claus Cares is committed to building a robust system for supporting the community and is actively working towards achieving its mission of improving the quality of life for individuals in need.
- Establishment of Clothing and Item Closet: Claus Cares established a clothing and item closet for community members to access free goods. This initiative aimed to support individuals and families in need by providing essential items. Currently operated out of house with intent to rent a building in the future. The closet helped numerous individuals by providing them with clothing, household goods, and other necessities. Tracking systems were set up to manage and distribute these items effectively. Fundraising and Community Engagement: Held a series of fundraising events, including a notable event on 02/06/2023, which raised $277.50. The funds collected supported the operations and services of Claus Cares. The fundraising events not only generated essential funds but also increased community awareness and engagement with Claus Cares.
- In 2023, Claus Cares continued to work towards its mission of supporting individuals in need within the community. Our primary focus was providing essential resources such as clothing, household goods, and supplies. We also initiated a new clothing and item closet where community members could access free goods. Holiday Assistance Programs: Claus Cares assisted low-income families during the holiday season by distributing toys and gifts for children, helping alleviate the financial burden for these families.
- In 2024/2025, Claus Cares provided community-based assistance to low-income families, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and veterans throughout the Virginia Peninsula. The organization operated a donation distribution program, collecting and providing clothing, household goods, and essential items to individuals in need. Services included direct delivery to clients without reliable transportation, with a focus on elderly and mobility-limited individuals. Claus Cares also maintained a non-perishable food pantry / clothing closet and provided supplemental grocery assistance to households experiencing food insecurity. Community donation drives and partnerships supported the collection and distribution of essential goods. In addition, Claus Cares implemented its "Operation Buddy Check" program, which conducts regular wellness check-ins for veterans. This program helps reduce social isolation and ensures participants have access to basic needs, resources, and referrals when necessary. The organization continued to build operational capacity during the fiscal year, including strengthening administrative processes, pursuing funding opportunities, and developing partnerships to expand services. Despite limited staffing, Claus Cares maintained consistent program delivery through volunteer leadership. This year, Claus Cares recieved $3,500 from Peninsula Community Foundation for its Christmas orienteted programs and expenses, as well as $2,500 from Ranhorne Memorial Trust of Grace United Methodist ChurchExpenses $8,056 · grants $6,000
