Mission
Mukti is a Sanskrit word that means "freedom from oppression and exploitation". Our goal is to see women and children find pathways to freedom. We partner with organizations around Asia that are on the frontlines helping to rescue and rehabilitate children that have experienced unimaginable exploitation.
Program accomplishments
- Mukti was born out of the desire to see more girls rescued and rehabilitated in Asia. Mukti's holistic aftercare home helps survivors to navigage their healing journey so that they don't return to a life of exploitation once rescued. Each girl's care is customized, creating care plans that reflect the personal goals and dreams of each survivor. Our accomplishments include a 95% reduction in recidivism of survivors, 40% of survivors are now living in freedom and 25 perpetrators have been held accountable for their abusive actions.In 2023, Mukti partnered with organizations across Asia to rehabilitate 55 survivors of human trafficking and exploitation, providing comprehensive care including safe housing, trauma-informed counseling, education access and life-skills development. Mukti strengthened local capacity by training community professionals in trauma therapy, social work case management, security and child protection pratices, education support and residential caregiving, enabling partner organizations to implement sustainable, best-practice rehabilitation services.These efforts contributed to a 95% reduction in recidivism (mentioned above) among survivors served, significantly reducing the risk of re-exploitation and supporting long-term reintegration into safe communities. Mukti also collaborated with local partners and legal advocates to strengthen accountability for trafficking crimes, contributing to 25 perpetrators being prosecuted or held legaly accountable (mentioned above). Through training, technical assistance and ongoing partnership support, Mukti continues to strengthen community-based systems that protect vulnerable children and promote survivor recovery and justice.Expenses $159,895
