Mission

To improve the health of residents in Southern Maryland through meaningful partnership-led education, engagement, and empowerment.

990 for the year ended June 30, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • During the reporting period, Totally Linking Care in Maryland (TLC-MD )advanced several critical initiatives to strengthen the behavioral health crisis response system and improve access to care for residents of Prince George's County, Maryland. A primary accomplishment during the year was the continued expansion and operational support of Mobile Crisis Response Teams throughout Prince George's County. TLC-MD provided technical assistance, operational guidance, and strategic support to ensure these teams were effectively staffed, sustainably funded, and operationally equipped. This included assistance with workforce development, community outreach and marketing of services, and facilitating access to safe transportation vehicles to support crisis response and client transport across the county. TLC-MD also played an active role in state-level advocacy efforts related to behavioral health crisis services. The organization worked with Maryland state leaders and stakeholders to support the implementation and sustainability of the 988 Behavioral Health Crisis Hotline system, advocating for long-term funding mechanisms that would transition crisis services from reliance on short-term grant funding to a more stable and self-sustaining funding structure. In addition, TLC-MD supported the expansion of behavioral health services within hospital settings by providing funding and technical assistance to Mindola. This initiative was designed to improve care coordination for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises who present in hospital emergency departments. Services include discharge planning, linkage to community resources, and access to clinical and therapeutic supports to ensure continuity of care following hospitalization. Another significant achievement during the year was TLC-MD's leadership role in the development and implementation of the first Emergency Crisis Stabilization Facility in the State of Maryland. TLC-Maryland provided extensive technical assistance to the provider organization responsible for operating the facility, including support with licensing preparation, staffing strategy, securing additional grant funding, facility construction guidance, program development, and community engagement. The organization also worked closely with local government officials and community leaders to advocate for and promote the development of a comprehensive crisis response system in Prince George's County. Through these efforts, TLC-MD's continued to strengthen the region's behavioral health infrastructure, expand access to crisis services, and promote coordinated systems of care for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use crises. In Addition to the major accomplishment in the behavioral health arena, TLC-MD also successfully established a fully functional nationally recognized CDC Umbrella Hub Organization and currently has five community based organization which has allowed increase access to the evidenced-based National DPP which prevents the onset of diabetes.
