Mission

Our purpose is to raise awareness about and evaluate solutions to social determinants of health through inclusively equitable voice; creatively, critically, with acceptance, and guided exploration.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Community Conversations - maintained social media pages, including that which was established in response to Native Elder guidance, to engage Native and non-Native community, based on results of Native-centered evaluation of safety circles; completed targeted promotions of our documentary, which maps our safety circle journey; maintained web interface designed to facilitate pod-style community reflections; followed up on interracial and interdisciplinary reflection group activities, and responsive grant applications for program development purposes; continued to expand partnerships with Native-led entities, and included male voice in program planning, based on results of safety circles evaluation; promoted importance of continuing to share culturally responsive and health conscious meals; expanded understanding of Elders to include religious origins, and term Ojibwe "Mindimooyehn", while understanding of land acknowledgments and related cultural practices expands from awareness to appreciation; promoted modified online versions of respect cards and emotions decks with young Native men; distributed remaining original emotions card decks for free to local community members, noting popularity of this tool far above and beyond that of more traditional written resources (e.g., pamphlets and flyers promoting regional resources).
    Expenses $7,048 · grants $2,000
  • Housing Foundations - market monitoring shifted to exploration of candidate properties that might be purchased or rented for mixed business and residential purposes, to support aspirations of developing a rent to possible home ownership program that would be made accessible to those who are disadvantaged; continued to increase understanding of unique safety needs in Indian country, such as transition planning for loss of primary supports; continuing to pursue funding for next round of safety circles programming that addresses unique Indian country needs; continued to explore local resources for food justice considerations (e.g., food is medicine, and independence is a goal); pursued resources to promote employer-connected supports (e.g., coaching in employee-initiated, employer-engaged wellness checks) via caregiver training institute; continued to explore legal support available to community members developing self-advocacy, as a way to promote independent housing; considerations of pandemic impacts has included accessibility of video conferencing platforms to expand programmatic reach, while new considerations respond to changes in views on health equity programming.
    Expenses $1,524
  • Creative Voice - pursued next funding with support of local digital arts studio (In Progress - Studio 110) to help support documentary works highlighting Native-led nonprofit in the region; Native guides across age spectrum contributed to development of funding application; promoted creative writing activities (e.g., Anishinaabe reflections and life documentations), as program development informed by safety circles evaluation highlights the loss of wisdom, when not recorded before lives pass on; exploration of Vocal.media as a potential source of revenue is still on hold, pending capacity expansion - limitations of this funding source are described in previous filings; received news that application to fund next mapping journey documentary (development, implementation, and evaluation of cradle board workshops) has made it to second round, and may be reshaped when call for invited round 2 applications is received.
    Expenses $1,524
