We've struggled to follow transitions in paperwork responsibilities, and so wasted time completing forms no longer required in early 2023, while managing our first sizable grant; this while managing the grant using a single backup account, because grantor delays caused both business and personal accounts to close due to lack of funds. Our limited accounting resources were overwhelmed when receiving improper invoicing guidance from the granting agency (MN Dept Health), where workforce turnover interfered with ability to learn and follow proper invoicing. These complications then pushed us into an unplanned audit, due to needing extensions; further detracting from our ability to complete now overdue 990s. In January 2024, new requirements to file 1099s electronically further delayed our efforts to resume 990 efforts, as we had been prepared to submit in paper form and struggled with the clunky new online system. I live with multiple disabilities (PTSD and fibromyalgia) that flare in response to the types of stressors noted, here; yet further slowing my ability to meet due dates for ever-changing tax form requirements.
