Mission
TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE STUDY OF THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE AND JAPANESE CULTURE BY STUDENTS OF ALL AGES IN ARLINGTON, VA, AND THE SURROUNDING WASHINGTON DC METROPOLITAN AREA.
Program accomplishments
- Study Japanese in Arlington SJA offers free Japanese language and cultural classes regularly, either in person or virtually, attracting between 3 and 20 attendees per session. In FY2026, SJA actively participated in several prominent cultural events, including Pink in the Pool, Sakura Matsuri, and Annandale Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration. SJA continues advocating for Japanese language education in Arlington public schools. As part of its advocacy efforts, SJA hosts an annual youth exchange program for students from Japan and the U.S. and assists in arranging cultural events for Japanese classes, including activities such as the origami workshop.Expenses $9,246
