Mission
OUR MISSION IS TO FILL MEDICAL GAPS, BUILD MEDICAL CAPABILITY, AND PROVIDE NEEDED SUPPORTING SERVICES VIA TRANSFORMATIONAL PARTICIPANT EXPERINCES INSPIRED BY THE TEACHINGS OF CHRIST.
Program accomplishments
- GENERAL PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENT: THE 2024-2025 YEAR WAS OUR 22ND TO BELIZE AND INCLUDED MULTIPLE TEACHING TRIPS TO TEACH, RESOURCE AND EQUIP MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS IN BELIZE, MOSTLY SURGEONS. IN ADDITION, SOME 165 VOLUNTEERS TRAVELED TO BELIZE FOR A WEEK TO PERFORM NEEDED MEDICAL SERVICES OF SURGERY (HERNIA REPAIR, ENT AND PLASTICS) AND GENERAL MEDICAL EVALUATIONS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN. OVER 10, 000 VOLUNTEER HOURS AND OVER TWO MILLION DOLLARS IN SERVICES WERE DONATED. OUR MISSION HAS ALWAYS INCLUDED BUILDING MEDICAL CAPACITY, BUT WE HAVE SUDDENLY SEEN MUCH GREATER WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT OUR CROSS TRAINING FOR THEIR MEDICAL STAFF. IT HAS TAKEN OVER TWENTY YEARS TO BUILD THIS TRUST OF OUR INTENTIONS AND BRAND. WE HAD TOP LEVEL MEETINGS WITH THE MINISTER OF HEALTH OF BELIZE AND THE STAFF WORKING DIRECTLY UNDER HIM TO BETTER COORDINATE CROSS TRAINING FOR LOCAL SURGEONS AND RESOURCING OF MISSING EQUIPMENT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS. WE ARE ORGANIZING OTHER MEDICAL TEAMS TO ALSO PARTICIPATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF BELIZE FOR CROSS TRAINING. WE ORGANIZED FIVE CROSS TRAINING TRIPS TO PERFORM SURGERY SIDE BY SIDE IN ORANGE WALK HOSPITAL WITH LOCAL GENERAL SURGEONS AND ALSO SEPARATELY WITH ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS. WE CONTINUED WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GLOBAL SURGICAL EXPEDITION OF RICHMOND VIRGINIA TO SUPPLY SURGEONS TO DO CROSS TRAINING ON THE EQUIPMENT WE PARTNERED WITH THEM IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR. TRAINING BELIZE SURGEONS TO CONFIDENTLY USE THE LAPAROSCOPIC TOWER DONATED TO BELIZE THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE RESULT HAS BEEN GRATIFYING TO SEE THAT THE SURGEONS IN BELIZE ARE USING THIS EQUIPMENT AND SKILL BASE TO REDUCE THEIR BED STAYS AND THEREBY INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY BY 100 % FOR GALLBLADDER SURGERIES. THE COUNTRY HAS A BACKLOG OF SUCH CASES THAT MAKE EACH SURGERY MORE COMPLICATED THAN IF DONE CLOSER TO DIAGNOSIS. IN ADDITION, ONE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS AND SURGEONS PROCURED AT $68,000 STRYKER DRILL AND SAW SET AS A DONATION TO THE ORANGE WALK GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL WHERE A LOCAL ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON HAD NO AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT. THIS SURGEON HAS MADE FOUR TRIPS, TWO THIS YEAR TO PERFORM ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE BELIZE SURGEON WHO HE HAS MENTORED FOR FIVE YEARS. OVER 60 MEDICAL OFFICERS WERE TRAINED ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN HEART TREATMENT IN EMERGENCY ROOMS. WE HAD AN AMAZING NOVEMBER 2025 SURGICAL TRIP TO COROZAL COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TO PERFORM ENT AND PLASTICS SURGERY WITH A TEAM OF 23 PEOPLE AND OUR LARGER TEAMS OF 60 EACH WEEK DONATED THEIR TIME TO BELIZE WITH THESE TWO CONSECUTIVE TRIPS AT THE END OF JANUARY AND THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY. THESE WERE MEDICAL TRIPS IN 2025 TO COROZAL COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AND ORANGE WALK'S NORTHERN REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN BELIZE. THE TEAMS ALSO TOOK A MEDICAL CLINIC TEAM TO THIRTEEN SURROUNDING AREA VILLAGES WHICH SET UP IN COMMUNITY CENTERS OR GOVERNMENT CLINIC SPACES FOR GENERAL EVALUATIONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS AND NO CHARGE PHARMACEUTICALS. THIS WAS WORKING WITH ENTITIES BOTH GOVERNMENTAL AND VOLUNTEER AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING IN BELIZE. THIS CONTINUED OUR LONGSTANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF BELIZE AND ITS BELIZE MINISTRY OF HEALTH, AS WELL AS ALL THE NON- GOVERNMENT PARTNERS (NGOS) AND INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS AND VENDORS IN BELIZE. WE HAVE ALSO PROACTIVELY ENGAGED WITH OTHER US NGOS THAT TRAVEL TO BELIZE TO INCREASE EFFECTIVENESS AND COORDINATION FOR CROSS TRAINING. SOME 165 US VOLUNTEERS JOINED WITH72 BELIZE VOLUNTEERS TO ACCOMPLISH A MULTITUDE OF TASKS. OVER 2,800 MEDICAL EVALUATIONS WERE DELIVERED ALONG WITH FREE PHARMACEUTICALS IN RURAL VILLAGES FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS. OVER 209 SURGERY PROCEDURES WERE PERFORMED IN THE GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS BY OUR ENT, PLASTICS AND GENERAL SURGERY TEAMS. SURGERIES INCLUDED CLEFT SURGERIES AND TONSIL AND DEVIATED SEPTUM, AS WELL AS HERNIA REPAIRS AND CANCEROUS BREAST SURGERY TO NAME A FEW OF THE MOST FREQUENT SURGERIES. WE ASSISTED A HIGH PROFILE CASE IN BELIZE OF A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BURN VICTIM WITH CARE AND RESOURCING TO GET HER TO GUATEMALA FOR SURGERY THAT OTHERWISE MIGHT HAVE SEEN HER INJURIES LEADING TO DEATH. WE WERE ABLE TO REBUILD THE FACE OF A MAN WHO HAD HIS FACE EATEN AWAY BY AN INFECTION. WE ALSO MET WITH OVER ONE HUNDRED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT DINNERS ORGANIZED TO INSPIRE TEENS TO SET HIGH GOALS BY HAVING DINER AND INTERACTION WITH OUR VISITING MEDICAL TEAMS. WE ALSO PROMOTED FINANCIAL STUDENT SUPPORT TO BELIZE STUDENTS VIA THESE SCHOLARSHIPS TO OUR PARTICIPANTS. OUR PARTICIPANTS DO THIS DIRECTLY WITH COROZAL BELIZE MINISTRIES STARTED BY A FORMER TRIP PARTICIPANT OVER 15 YEARS AGO. OUR GOLF OUTING ALSO PROMOTES DONATIONS THAT ARE GIVEN TO COROZAL BELIZE MINISTRIES TO SCHOLARSHIP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (BELIZE DOES NOT PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL COSTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL). THE VALUE OF TRIPS IN MEDICAL SERVICES DONATED TO BELIZE WAS $2,276,000 USD. VOLUNTEERS WITH PARTNERS FOR MEDICAL RELIEF DONATED 8,325 HOURS FROM THE US TEAM AND 2,380 HOURS FROM OUR BELIZE VOLUNTEERS. ENCOURAGING BELIZE STUDENTS IS ALSO A HIGH VALUE. AN IMPORTANT IMPACT BEYOND BELIZE BACK IN THE USA IS THE NEW ENERGY AND SELFLESSNESS OUR VOLUNTEERS BRING HOME. THEY CONSISTENTLY REPORT THEIR INSPIRATION UPON THEIR RETURN HOME THAT BRINGS IMPACT TO THEIR FAMILIES, THEIR MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS AND COMMUNITIES. OUR OFFICIAL MISSION IS TO FILL MEDICAL GAPS AND BUILD MEDICAL CAPABILITY AND PROVIDE NEEDED SUPPORTING SERVICES VIA TRANSFORMATIONAL PARTICIPANT EXPERIENCES INSPIRED BY THE TEACHINGS OF CHRIST. WHILE OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PASS A FAITH TEST OR PROMOTE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH TO BELIZE PATIENTS, THE OVERWHELMING FEEDBACK OF INSPIRATION FROM THE MORNING REFLECTIONS ON THE WORDS AND TEACHING AND LIFE OF CHRIST IS CONFIRMATION OF THE IMPACT ON OUR PARTICIPANTS. THIS IS A MAJOR HIDDEN VALUE OF OUR EFFORTS BEYOND BELIZE BACK IN THE US. OFFERING INSPIRATIONAL TO PARTICIPANTS WHO RETURN WITH NEW ENERGY FOR THEIR LIVES BACK HOME WE GATHERED OVER ONE HUNDRED ASPIRING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO INTERACT WITH OUR MEDICAL TEAM MEMBERS AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO STAY FOCUSED ON SCHOOL. THESE STUDENTS RECEIVE PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS FROM OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATION; COROZAL BELIZE MINISTRIES.Expenses $290,855 · revenue $246,811
