Mission
North Star Community Rowing empowers individuals, transforms lives and builds community through the sport of rowing. NSCR promotes diversity and inclusion in the sport of rowing by expanding access to two populations who traditionally have been excluded from the sport. Our programs create recreation opportunities for Minneapolis youth and adults beyond those that are currently available, particularly youth from under-served communities and individuals with physical disabilities.
Program accomplishments
- ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ North Star Community Rowing (NSCR) provided adaptive and community rowing programming to 37 individuals through 99 total enrollments across five program offerings in 2025: three Indoor Rowing sessions, one Race Training session, and one Summer on-the-water Rowing session. Approximately 70% of participants were Adaptive athletes or U.S. Veterans; core constituencies included older adults with disabilities and individuals lacking financial access to private rowing clubs. Indoor Rowing was held at Base Camp in Fort Snelling/Bloomington, MN, in partnership with Northern Star Scouting, totaling 29 weeks and 664 programming hours (up 62% from 2024). On-the-water and Race Training programs were held at Silverwood Park/Silver Lake in St. Anthony, MN, in partnership with Three Rivers Park District, serving 9 athletes at the Minneapolis Sprints Regatta and generating 233 training hours. NSCR expanded its equipment inventory with a donated trailer and five rowing shells, and added a half-time Program Director effective July 1, 2025. Volunteers contributed 486 hours of program support.
