Program accomplishments

  • Education and Workforce: Research and recommendations that focus on improving educational outcomes for all Texas students. To build a more globally competitive workforce, we must begin with quality early learning and continue enhancing achievement by utilizing data-driven strategies throughout elementary and secondary school. Maintaining rigor in the state's K-12 accountability system is critical as well as emphasizing programs that ensure college, career, and military readiness, including enriched work-based learning models. The ultimate goal is to increase Texas' postsecondary attainment rate in line with the state's strategic plan for higher education, Building a Talent Strong Texas.
  • Federal Issues: Provide research and education on issues and activities being deliberated at the federal level that are critical to Texas' economic and overall wellbeing. Federal matters include maintaining strong free trade agreements and understanding the economic importance of a modern, vibrant immigration system including a permanent solution for DACA recipients.
  • Infrastructure: Foster a climate for innovation and accelerate the deployment of smart infrastructure investments by updating policies and practices that impede progress. Focus areas include ensuring that Texas properly addresses an ever-growing demand for common sense water supply, creative transportation solutions, and improving broadband access.Economic Development: Support issues that keep Texas as a leading state for business expansion and relocation. Issues include maintaining a common-sense regulatory system, civil justice reforms, and a level playing field for businesses.
