Mission
PROMOTE AND PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF LA SALLE COUNTY TEXAS AND THE SOUTH TEXAS BRUSH COUNTRY BY COLLECTING AND PRESERVING ARTIFACTS AND OTHER OBJECTS OF CULTURAL OR HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE. THE COMMISSION ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY OPERATING THE BRUSH COUNTRY MUSEUM WHICH IS OPEN 25 HOURS A WEEK. SEE DETAILS ON FACEBOOK. THE COMMISSION IS APPOINTED BY THE COUNTY JUDGE AND UNER THE SUPERVISION OF THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISION.
Program accomplishments
- DISPLAYS ARTIFACTS, PORTRAITS AND DOCUMENTS PORTRAYING THE HISTORY OF LA SALLE COUNTY TEXAS AND THE SURROUNDING SOUTH TEXAS BRUSH COUNTRY. HAS COMPUTER AVAILABLE FOR GUEST TO ACCESS OLD LA SALLE COUNTY NEWSPAPERS. ASSITS VISITORS BY PROVIDING MAPS, BROCHURES, AND OTHER INFORMATION. THE COMMISSION OPERATES THE BRUSH COUNTRY MUSEUM WHICH YOU CAN FIND ON FACEBOOK. THE MUSEUM IS OPEN 5 HOURS A DAY 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR THE PUBLIC. DOES NOT HAVE A WEBSITE BUT IS ON FACEBOOK. THE MUSEUM SERVES THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF COTULLA AND THE COUNTY OF LA SALLE TEXAS WHICH HAS ABOUT 7000 CITIZENS.
