Mission

PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION OF LAND IN BOONE COUNTY, KENTUCKY

990 for the year ended June 30, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • THE ORGANIZATION CURRENTLY HOLDS SIXTEEN CONSERVATION EASEMENTS AND ONE RESTRICTIVE COVENANT, AND HAS INVESTED IN FOUR PARCELS OF LAND IN BOONE COUNTY, KENTUCKY. TWO OF THESE PROPERTIES ARE OPEN AS PARKS, PROVIDING VALUABLE OUTDOOR SPACES FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ALIKE. IN JANUARY 2025, THE CONSERVANCY EXPANDED ITS IMPACT WITH THE ACQUISITION OF A NEARLY 500-ACRE PROPERTY ALONG THE OHIO RIVER IN PETERSBURG, MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH A SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN. THIS ECOLOGICALLY SIGNIFICANT TRACT FEATURES 1.3 MILES OF RIVER FRONTAGE, A MATURE FOREST CANOPY, WETLANDS, AND SECOND CREEK-DESIGNATED AS AN OUTSTANDING STATE RESOURCE WATER. THE SITE ALSO SUPPORTS SPECIES OF CRITICAL CONCERN AND CONTAINS IMPORTANT CULTURAL RESOURCE AREAS. POSITIONED DIRECTLY ACROSS THE RIVER FROM MORE THAN 3,000 ACRES OF PROTECTED LAND IN INDIANA AND OHIO, THIS ACQUISITION STRENGTHENS A VITAL, CONTIGUOUS RIPARIAN CORRIDOR THAT SUPPORTS MIGRATORY BIRDS AND NATIVE WILDLIFE.
    Expenses $103,260
