Mission

TO PROMOTE INDEPENDENT LIVING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES.

990 for the year ended September 30, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • FILC AND THE FLORIDA CILS CREATED A NATIONAL BEST PRACTICE FOR RESPONDING TO FLORIDIANS WITH DISABILITIES DURING DISASTERS. FILC HAS SUCCESSFULLY ENSURED THAT THE CILS ARE INCLUDED IN THE STATE'S COMPREHENSIVE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN AS CRITICAL PARTNERS IN MASS CARE. THIS ACTION HAS ASSISTED SEVERAL CILS WITH GRANTS AND IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISIONS. ALSO, FILC SUPPORTED THE ACCESS AND FUNCTIONAL NEEDS TEAM DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD AND ASSISTED WITH POLICIES TO TRANSFER THE ACTIVITY BETWEEN STATE AGENCIES. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD, THE FLORIDA CILS HAVE PROVIDED 100% OF THE DME DISTRIBUTED DURING DISASTERS, WHICH HAS PLAYED A CRITICAL ROLE IN THE CILS' PROVISION OF WRAPAROUND AND TRANSITION SERVICES. THE LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES HAS BEEN HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO EXPANDING IT WITH ORGANIZATIONS THAT BUILD CAPACITY FOR THE CILS. EVERY CIL PARTICIPATED IN THE STATE IN THE TRAINING SERIES. FILC HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT EFFORTS TO IMPROVE DATA COLLECTION TO TELL THE TREMENDOUS STORIES OF THE CILS. WE ARE WORKING ON THE DASHBOARD, A GIS MAPPING TOOL THAT ALLOWS CILS TO GATHER DEMOGRAPHICS DOWN TO THE ZIP CODE LEVEL, AND WE HAVE BEGUN TALKS WITH Q90 TO STANDARDIZE REPORTING. THIS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE CILS ' SUCCESS. MORE WILL BE REPORTED ON THE NEXT PPR, AS THIS PROCESS WAS DEVELOPED DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD. THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM HAS BEEN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL, WITH DELEGATES PARTICIPATING FROM ACROSS FLORIDA. THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE IN PARTICIPATION FROM THE FLORIDA CILS.
