TO SERVE AS A CENTRAL SOURCE OF INFORMATION ABOUT PATHOLOGY IN THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE, IN MEDICAL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION, AND TO PROVIDE LITERATURE ABOUT PATHOLOGY AS A CAREER.
Program accomplishments
- DIRECTORY OF RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS. ICPI PUBLISHES AN ONLINE DIRECTORY OF PATHOLOGY RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE DIRECTORY HAS BEEN ONLINE-ONLY SINCE 2017 WHEN THE 50TH EDITION WAS PUBLISHED. THE RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE DIRECTORY IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE TO THE PUBLIC. REVENUE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DIRECTORY IS ASSOCIATED WITH LISTING FEES FOR PROGRAMS TO HAVE THEIR INFORMATION INCLUDED ON THE WEBSITE.
- DIRECTORY OF PATHOLOGY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS. IN 2019, ICPI ENTERED INTO A COLLABORATION WITH THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (ASCP) TO PRODUCE AN ONLINE DIRECTORY OF PATHOLOGY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS. ICPI SHARED ITS HISTORICAL DATA WITH THE ASCP TO LAUNCH THEIR DIRECTORY. ASCP MAINTAINS THE WEBSITE AND DOES ALL MARKETING, PROMOTION, AND OUTREACH FOR LISTINGS. ICPI RECEIVES REVENUE FROM THIS COLLABORATION.
- MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUPS. ICPI BEGAN IN 2009 TO SUPPORT MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUPS WITH A FOCUS ON PATHOLOGY. INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATIVES APPLY TO ICPI FOR CREATION OR SUPPORT OF AN EXISTING MEDICAL STUDENT INTEREST GROUP. PROGRAMS RECEIVE $500/YEAR. THIS PROGRAM IS A VERY HIGH PRIORITY FOR THE ICPI BOARD. HENCE, IN SOME YEARS ICPI PROVIDES FUNDING FOR ALL APPLICANT ORGANIZATIONS.
