We work closely with a network of eight social service providers such as Habitat for Humanity Bridge Communities DuPage Pads and more. Our mission is to come alongside these organizations and serve those who are experiencing homelessness those who have survived domestic violence or human trafficking and who have fled their countries of origin

Program accomplishments

  • The purpose of Love Your Neighbor is to equip peoples houses to become homes and care for one of the most important physiological needs which is shelter. Although many organizations provide services for shelter Love Your Neighbor is set apart because we use sustainable measures community support and a network of incredible volunteers to help our clients feel a sense of empowerment belonging and safety in their own homes. We believe that people cannot fully flourish in their daily lives if they do not first feel safe and comfortable in their own home. Thus Love Your Neighbor fully designs and furnishes the entire space providing all the items that an individual would need to make a house into a home in addition to repairing any minor damages to the home. We work to create a fully functioning space where our clients and their children can work and study in order to further their careers and education. Love Your Neighbor has a streamlined process where we work with our volunteers to furnish and assemble these homes in the most time efficient and quality manner. Love Your Neighbor is a faith-based and woman-owned organization with a clear mission reflected in our name: to love our neighbor regardless of their background or origin. In a world often lacking care connection and compassion our purpose is to be a source of expressing all three through the act of love. In 2017 Habitat for Humanity became our first partner organization and we have since added 9 other organizations including: Bridge Communities DuPage Pads Lifespring Ministries Naomis House Reclaim 13 & Families Helping Families and Family Self Sufficiency Program DuPageTo date over 138 families have been served which includes 443 individuals including children; LYN accepts any clients referred to us and does not discriminate based on race religion ethnicity sexual orientation etc. Of the 138 families served 90% are women and children; Our client base is diverse with 55% identifying as Black 35% as Hispanic and 15% as White. In 2024 LYN hired an Executive Director as well as a part time Program Coordinator. In 2025 we appointed a board member who was a recent recipient of LYN"s services.
