Program accomplishments

  • A. March 9-14, 2025: Agricultural training, Sarangani Province, Philippines A training conducted in Kiamba, Sarangani Province is a very memorable and encouraging one. It marked a big accomplishment of one of RPRC's main goals of training farmers from one community so that these farmers can also train others in their community and other traibal communities in other provinces. In this particular training, 10 farmers from the Manobo tribe from the Agusan Province travelled 10-12 hours to the Sarangani Province to train Tiboli pastors. Because the Manobo farmers have already been doing the natural farming technology for several years since RPRC volunteers first came to their communities, the topics they taught to the Manobo farmers were full of illustrations and examples based on their actual experiences in their farms. The topics taught were the basic concepts of living soil, composting using different methods, how to make and apply bio-char, seed saving, how to prepare various concoctions for soil conditioners, fertilizers, pesticides, and for different stages of plant growth.B. March 15-16: Meeting with Pastors in Bukidnon-Davao Province, Philippines to see if there is a good fit for RPRC programs.C. March 18-21: Agricultural Trainers' Training Selected farmers who have previously attended RPRC agriculture trainings in the past convened in Brooke's Point, Palawan Province for a special type of training which covered comprehensively many natural farming practices and seed saving. The main goal is to prepare these farmers to be RPRC trainers in Palawan Island.D. March 24-29: Agriculture training-Brooke's Point and Rizal municipalities, Palawan, Philippines After the trainers' training in Brooke's Point, the select farmers proceeded to the municipality of Rizal to conduct training for farmers who live in various communities in southern part of Palawan Island. It was a very fruitful training especially that majority of the participants attended such kind of training for the first time. E. June 2-14, 2025: Assessment trip in Cuba Four volunteers namely, Tom Carter and Cora Carter from RPRC; and Pastor John Sanchez, and Pastor Josh Hersey from Church on the Rock Church (COTR) in Florida, travelled to four provinces in Cuba. The main purpose of this travel was for COTR leaders to assess whether this is a type of mission they would like their church to get involved in. The team brought over 1,000 packets of seeds to distribute to the farmers. After the trip, RPRC and COTR along with the local leaders decided to bring an agriculture training in December, 2025.F. September 25-27, 2025: Cuba team training in Sparta, NC, USA G. October 7-27, 2025: Philippine missions in several communities 1. October 8- Mactan Cebu for flight arrival 2. October 9-11- arrival in Puerto Princesa to prepare for mission trips to the islands 3. October 12-19- agriculture teams conducted agriculture trainings among the Malbog tribe in Balabac Island in the areas of Catagupan, Malaking-Ilog, and Indalawan communities. 4. October 20- Meeting with church leaders in Aborlan 5. October 22-23- Meeting with the TLRGO farmers regarding the RPRC new goat project. 6. October 24-26- Meetings in Manila.H. November 9, 2025: Seed saving training for Cuba mission team held in St. Augustine, FloridaI. December 7-15: Agriculture training in Camaguey, Cuba This is the first time that RPRC sent an agriculture training team to Cuba. It was a very productive time doing practical hands-on training in land stewardship, composting, no-till approach to farming, making natural fertilizers, pesticides, and concoctions for various stages of plant growth. One of the main topics discussed was on seed saving. The farmers feedbacks were very encouraging to the training team. Some said they finally have dreams and visions again in their farming. One participant even said he has experienced one of the happiest days of his life. And many more other comments that reflect joy and hope.
