- The Prescott Police Foundation (PPF) is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering public safety through community building, education and outreach. In concert with the Prescott Police Department, the Foundation supports a variety of public safety and crime prevention programs and encourages innovation by serving as an alternative to traditional funding sources. The Foundation also provides essential assistance for Police Department programs and enhances their ability to achieve their mission and keep our community safe. The Prescott Police Foundation is organized exclusively, as stated above for charitable and educational purposes in support of the community as follows:The K-9 Unit and K-9 Events - allows the PPF to foster relations with the community by holding events to make the community aware of how the sworn K-9s Benny and Cooper, as narcotics dogs, help to keep our community safe. The K-9s go into school classrooms to teach kids the dangers of drugs. The PPF has also purchased a new training building for the K-9s so they can further their training. Citizens on Patrol (COPs) - PPF has supplied the COPs with FIDO bags to be used for emergencies for found animals needing water and treatment for injuries. We also purchased them highly reflective winter jackets and repainted 2 COP vehicles. They also provide vacation drive by's for the Prescott community and assist the Police Department with accidents. The COP's are all volunteers and don't have a payroll.Annual Police Awards - PPF supplies funds for outstanding personnel in the Prescott Police Department. Not all monies are funded through the City.Purchase of Needed Equipment - PPF donates funds to purchase emergency lights and sirens for the DUI Mobile Command Unit and communications/satellite equipment for PPD, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and fire departments in time of emergency.Pink Patch Project - Every October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PPD sells pink patches (1,000) that PPF purchased. These are sold throughout the community and the funds are held by PPF. These funds are donated to Yavapai Regional Medical Center Foundation for breast cancer treatments in the community. 2024 was the 6th year for this distribution of funds. Debora Black Annual Community Service Scholarship - PPF is in year 5 giving Yavapai College scholarship funds to a deserving student in the name of former chief of police Debora Black.Facility K-9 Eden - PPF paid for K-9 Eden's training and medical care. She goes into court in support of victims of crimes. Her first court appearance was for a 14 year old rape victim. The victim did great in court because of Eden at her side for support.First Responders - PPF provided funds to the PPD for a salsa contest for the police and fire department to foster good will within the departments.Shop with a Cop - PPF provides funds for needy children at Christmas time to shop for gifts for themselves and their families.Staff Appreciation at PPD - PPF has provided gift cards to the entire police department to show appreciation for their service to the community at a time when Prescott was losing personnel because of low pay, etc. This small gesture is appreciated by the department.Expenses $74,887 · grants $74,887
