SINCE 2012, HVBB'S MISSION HAS BEEN TO IMPROVE HEALTH EQUITY AND THE WELL-BEING OF PREGNANT AND PARENTING FAMILIES AND THEIR BABIES IN THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, RESOURCE COORDINATION, RESEARCH, AND THE PROVISION OF DIRECT SERVICES. WE AIM TO DECREASE MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH INEQUITIES THAT BEGIN AT BIRTH BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY, SOCIALLY, AND LINGUISTICALLY MATCHED DOULA CARE TO THE MOST UNDERSERVED FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING COMMUNITY-BASED SOLUTIONS TO ADDRESS THE MATERNAL HEALTH CRISIS IN THE UNITED STATES AND WE ARE DEDICATED TO SHARING OUR EXPERIENCES WITH FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES STRIVING FOR SIMILAR OUTCOMES. A HEALTHY COMMUNITY BEGINS WITH A HEALTHY BIRTH, AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO FOSTERING THIS THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT AND CARE FOR PREGNANT PEOPLE AND FAMILIES.

Program accomplishments

  • IN 2025, THE COMMUNITY DOULA PROGRAM STRENGTHENED ITS ORGANIZATIONAL FOUNDATION AND LONG TERM IMPACT. THE PROGRAM SECURED A GRANT TO SUPPORT BOARD DEVELOPMENT AND COMPLETED A COMPREHENSIVE 360 HUMAN RESOURCES REVIEW, RESULTING IN REFINED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND CLEAR CONTRACTING PROCEDURES FOR DOULAS AND MENTEE DOULAS. A FULLY REVISED EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK WAS PRODUCED, AND THE ORGANIZATION REVISITED ITS MISSION AND VISION WHILE SETTING FOCUSED GOALS FOR THE NEXT THREE TO FIVE YEARS THROUGH A FACILITATED STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS. THESE EFFORTS SIGNIFICANTLY EXPANDED STRUCTURAL SUPPORTS FOR THE NONPROFIT AND ALIGNED THE PROGRAM WITH SECTOR BEST PRACTICES.
    Expenses $175,377
  • IN 2025, THE COMMUNITY DOULA PROGRAM ADVANCED ITS MISSION TO DEMOCRATIZE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPAND ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY PERINATAL SUPPORT. WE LAUNCHED A FREE CONTINUING EDUCATION SERIES THAT GENERATED HUNDREDS OF DOULA CONTACT HOURS, SUPPORTING BOTH ONGOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INITIAL CREDENTIALING FOR OREGON'S TRADITIONAL HEALTH WORKER DOULA PATHWAY. ALL TRAININGS WERE DESIGNED TO BUILD A TRAUMA-INFORMED, HIGHLY SKILLED WORKFORCE REFLECTIVE OF COMMUNITY NEEDS. IN ADDITION, WE CONTRIBUTED TO THE BROADER FIELD BY PUBLISHING TWO ARTICLES, WITH A THIRD CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW, FURTHER STRENGTHENING THE EVIDENCE BASE AND VISIBILITY OF COMMUNITY ROOTED DOULA CARE.
    Expenses $175,376 · revenue $380,729
  • IN 2025, THE COMMUNITY DOULA PROGRAM EXPANDED COMMUNITY CAPACITY TO SUPPORT HEALTHY PREGNANCIES AND EARLY PARENTING. WE LAUNCHED THREE COMMUNITY CLOSETS CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL NONPROFIT, A BIRTH CENTER, AND OUR OWN PROGRAM OFFICE OFFERING FREE DIAPERS, WIPES, CLOTHING, AND BOOKS TO FAMILIES IN NEED. TO FURTHER ADDRESS MATERIAL INSECURITY, WE ORGANIZED A COMMUNITY DIAPER DRIVE AND SUBMITTED TWO GRANT PROPOSALS AIMED AT ESTABLISHING BENTON COUNTY'S FIRST NATIONAL NETWORK DIAPER BANK. THESE EFFORTS STRENGTHENED LOCAL RESOURCE ACCESS AND DEEPENED OUR COMMITMENT TO MEETING FAMILIES' PRACTICAL NEEDS WITH DIGNITY AND CARE. ALL OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS DESCRIBED HERE OCCURRED ALONGSIDE OUR STANDARD DOULA HUB SERVICES WHICH FOCUS ON PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY, CULTURALLY-REVERENT, AND LINGUISTICALLY-MATCH COMMUNITY DOULA SERVICES TO ANY MEDICAID RECIPIENT IN THREE COUNTIES WHO WANTS ACCESS TO A DOULA. OUR VOLUME OF PRACTICE IN 2025 WAS, ON AVERAGE, 40 REFERRALS PER MONTH.
    Expenses $175,376
