SAGE SPARKS THE IMAGINATION AND COMMITMENT OF PEOPLE OVER FIFTY WHO BELIEVE IN GENERATIONAL EQUITY - THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE FORWARD AND IMPROVE LIFE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. BUILDING ON MORE THAN A DECADE OF PROGRESS, THIS YEAR WE ENGAGED OVER 5,000 PEOPLE IN EFFORTS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO THRIVE. THROUGH OUR CONNECT & ENGAGE SERIES, WE WELCOMED NEW PARTICIPANTS AND HELPED THEM FIND MEANINGFUL PATHWAYS TO GIVE FORWARD. WE HOSTED OR SUPPORTED 13 DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS THAT EXPLORED THE CHALLENGES FACING THE FUTURE, WAYS INDIVIDUALS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, AND THE SUPPORT, RESOURCES, AND COMMUNITY NEEDED TO TAKE ACTION. THESE EVENTS FOCUSED ON KEY TOPICS SUCH AS CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, COMMUNITY RESILIENCE, AND HOUSING SECURITY. AS PART OF THIS SERIES, WE ALSO HELD OUR THIRD SAGE AWARDS EVENT, CELEBRATING OUR COMMUNITY AND HONORING EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO FUTURE GENERATIONS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE ALSO PROVIDED ONE-TO-ONE MEETINGS WITH OUR COMMUNITY CONNECTORS TO HELP MATCH INDIVIDUALS' INTERESTS WITH MEANINGFUL GIVEFORWARD OPPORTUNITIES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. TO COMPLEMENT THIS WORK, WE DEVELOPED AND SHARED STORIES HIGHLIGHTING PEOPLE WHO ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE BY ADVANCING EDUCATION, RESTORING THE ENVIRONMENT, AND EXPANDING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY.

THIS YEAR, WE HELD OUR NINTH VISITING SAGE EVENT, FEATURING DR. JANE GOODALL ON THE FUTURE OF HOPE. DR. GOODALL SHARED PERSONAL REFLECTIONS ON HER REMARKABLE LIFE, HER GROUNDBREAKING WORK, AND HER ENDURING MESSAGE OF HOPE FOR OUR PLANET. THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHE MET WITH STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT THEIR CONSERVATION AND RESEARCH PROJECTS. TOGETHER, THESE EVENTS REMINDED ALL OF US OF THE POWER OF INSPIRING HOPE THROUGH LOCAL ACTION - AND OF THE IMPORTANCE OF WORKING ACROSS GENERATIONS TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN OUR WORLD.

WE ALSO SUPPORTED TWO PROGRAMS THAT ENGAGE OLDER ADULTS AS MENTORS AND TUTORS, HELPING MORE THAN 200 ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS STRENGTHEN THEIR READING AND MATH SKILLS. OUR PROGRAM FOR EMERGING LEADERS ORGANIZED TWO INTERGENERATIONAL SERVICE EVENTS THAT ENCOURAGE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES TO SERVE TOGETHER.
