Mission
The Honey Fig, is an animal welfare and educational organization dedicated to the rescue and lifelong care of Arabian and half Arabian horses and to equine assisted learning programs that serve the community. Our primary activities include rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary care followed with equine assisted learning and wellness programs icluding community education along with the administrative and fundraising work that supports these efforts. We devote about sixty percent of our resources to rescue and sanctuary, twenty percent to equine assisted programs, ten percent to education and ten percent to administrative and fundraising activities.
Program accomplishments
- We take in Arabian and half horses that have experienced neglect abuse abandonment or other risk. Referrals come from animal control law enforcement veterinarians recues and private owners. Each horse receives a health and behavioural assessment followed by veterinary exams vaccinations dental and farrier care nutrition plans and rehabilitation tailored to its needs. Horses that cannot be safely adopted remain in permanent sanctuary where they receive ongoing medical care, applicants are screened through an application, reference checks, and a property review. Adoption contracts require safe lifelong care and return of the horses if needed. We maintain detailed care records and follow recognized humane equine care standards. Daily operations are carried out by staff and volunteers with licensed veterinarians and farriers providing professional services. Activities directly supports our charitable purpose of preventing cruelty to animals and demonstrates responsible equine stewardship.Expenses $478,178
