REPRESENT THE FARMER'S VOICE ON ISSUES RELATED TO AGRICULTURE, EDUCATE THE CONSUMER AND PROMOTE FARM PRODUCTS, KEEP MEMBERS ABREAST OF POLICIES AND NEW DEVELOPMENTS.
Program accomplishments
- WE HAVE A BOOTH AT THE COUNTY 4-H FAIR WHERE WE EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT AGRICULTURE. WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS AT THE BOOTH 12 HOURS A DAY FOR THE 10 DAYS OF THE FAIR ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT AGRICULTURE AND DISCUSSING THE DISPLAY. THE DISPLAY SHOWCASES FOOD GROWN IN INDIANA AND SHOWS PEOPLE WHERE THEIR FOOD COMES FROM. ALSO AT THE BOOTH IS A QUESTION-AND-ANSWER GAME WITH FARM FACTS.
- WITH OUR FARMING IN THE CLASSROOM PROGRAM, WE TEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLASSES ABOUT WHERE THEIR FOOD COMES FROM. OUR VOLUNTEERS TEACH FIRST THROUGH FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS IN 25 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WITHIN THE COUNTY. THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, WE ARE ABLE TO HOLD DIFFERENT SESSIONS.
