Mission

The primary purpose of the Maryland Youth Cricket Association is to govern, regulate, develop, and promote the sport of cricket among young people at all levels in the state of Maryland and enable youth cricketers to achieve sustained competitive excellence and successfully compete in national and international competition. MYCA develops, strengthens, and supports all teams selected to represent MD and the Washington DC area in regional and national matches, tournaments, and events.

Program accomplishments

  • Trinidad Cricket Competition. When the Maryland Youth Cricket Association (MYCA) players are selected for the national championship tournaments, those matches are played on natural turf pitches. We use artificial turf and matting pitches at the cricket fields in Maryland. Currently there are no natural turf pitches in Maryland. As result, our players are at a disadvantage when they try out for the national teams. To help with this problem, MYCA top performers are selected for cricket tours in Trinidad to provide experience playing against tough competition on natural turf pitches. The experience of playing in a foreign country also is important as the national teams play abroad.
    Expenses $93,707
  • Spring Cricket League. In 2025 the Maryland Youth Cricket Association (MYCA) continued to work with the Washington Youth Cricket League (WYCL) to conduct the DC Hub League, which is the first step in the National Cricket Pathway. MYCA successfully administered a statewide cricket league for youth participants in the Under 11 and Under 13 age groups, featuring both vinyl ball and leather ball teams. The league commenced in April and concluded in June, culminating in the prestigious Maryland Youth Cricket Championship Series. This initiative saw the participation of 55 teams, engaging over 500 young athletes in the sport of cricket. MYCA provided encouragement to all participants, with top performers receiving trophies, medals, and plaques in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
    Expenses $42,042
  • MYCA Girl's Training. The youth clubs in the Washington DC area only have a few girls each. The girls practice and play match with boys. The Maryland Youth Cricket Association (MYCA) MYCA believed that it is important for girls to play cricket in an all-girls program. In 2025 MYCA hosted all-girls' practices and matches. Girls from the various youth cricket academies were invited to participate in girls-only practices. In January and February, the practices were conducted indoor. Once the weather warmed up in March, the practices moved to outdoor cricket fields. Next, the girls were divided into teams and played matches against each other. There were 54 girls in the program from age 10 - 18 years old.
    Expenses $4,600
