  • People - Lafitte Greenway Partnership (LGP) achieves our vision of a healthy and vibrant greenway that connects people to nature, their destinations, and each other through projects, programming, planning, and operations. LGP works to create a community-oriented and highly-used public space. In 2024, LGP reached 18,937 community members with recreation, arts, and cultural programs. The organization hosted 79 free fitness classes throughout the year that was attended by 1,460 local residents. We, partnered with the Crescent City Farmers Market to host New Orleans' largest weekly farms market, and produced arts and cultural events such as the Greenway Supernova light-based art festival, Movies in the Park, Easter Eggstravaganza, and more. Through a monthly e-newsletter and new signage, LGP works to keep the public informed and connected to the Greenway. We also finalized our master plan update for the Broad to Bayou segment of the Greenway.

In 2021, LGP launched Greenway Grow, a public campaign and program to care for the Greenway's nature. In 2024, we maintained our Greenway Plaza Raingarden, removed 32,000 sf of non-native trees/bushes from our bioswales, planted 40 trees, and created a new Urban Forestry Academy to provide apprenticeship opportunities to young adults. • Transportation - Lafitte Greenway Partnership works to grow the Greenway as a transportation connector, safely linking neighborhoods and locations along the trail. In 2023, LGP met regularly with public partners to plan and support the trail completion's implementation, and ensured the Greenway was accessible and more protected for Mardi Gras goers. We engaged with partners in the Complete Streets Coalition to build a more accessible New Orleans. The Greenway trail saw an estimated 500,000 uses in 2024 for transportation and recreation.
