Program accomplishments
- The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem's vision is to provide a world-class Out of School Time Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. As a private, non-profit organization (with a national affiliation) that is committed to providing Out of School Time youth programming for any child who wants to attend our programs, regardless of their family's ability to pay, we must rely on the community to fund our programs. Our revenue consists of state and local funds, philanthropic donations and Membership fees. Our curriculum is intentional and we consider our programs to be an extension of school day learning. Our youth start their time with Power Hour where staff and volunteers mobilize to help members with their homework, make sure that it is done correctly, and that it is in the school bag all ready for the next day at school. Beyond Power Hour, members may choose from a broad array of programming. Examples include Robotics, Dance, Creative Writing, Cooking Club, Drama, Yoga and many gym activities. Members may try out for competitive travelling athletic teams such as basketball where they play teams from other Boys & Girls Clubs in the region. Our programs are designed to include: - fun - safe and positive environment - relationships with professional and caring adults - high expectations and challenging programming - high-yield activities and targeted programs - healthy food - snacks and mealsIn FY25, the Club served over 350 youth in its four programs: Licensed Afterschool for ages 5 - 12, Drop-In Youth Afterschool, ages 8 - 12, Teen Drop-In (year round), ages 12 - 18, and Summer Camp, ages 5 - 12.
