UNITED ACADEMICS WAS FORMED TO ADVOCATE FOR THE RIGHTS, AND, WITH OTHERS, FOR THE RIGHTS OF UVM EMPLOYEES, STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. UNITED ACADEMICS ALSO SEEKS THE BEST POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENT FOR TEACHING, LEARNING AND RESEARCH, AND BELIEVES THAT A DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF SCHOLARS IS BEST SERVED BY EQUAL TREATMENT, ACADEMIC FREEDOM, SHARED GOVERNANCE, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY.

- ACT AS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGENT AND SEEK OPTIMUM WORKING CONDITIONS. TO PROVIDE MEMBERS WITH REPRESENTATION AND DUE PROCESS. TO ACT AS A LIASON BETWEEN FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION. TO PROMOTE PROFESSIONALISM AMONG MEMBERS.
