Mission

THE INSTITUTE FOR ALL MINDS CONDUCTS RESEARCH FOCUSED ON UNDERSTANDING HOW THE BRAIN CAUSES CONSCIOUSNESS AND HOW NEURONS DIE IN NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES, SUCH AS ALZHEIMER'S.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • THE INSTITUTE FOR ALL MINDS WAS FOUNDED THIS YEAR WITH TWO PRINCIPAL MISSIONS. OUR FIRST MISSION IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE BRAIN CAUSES CONSCIOUSNESS. CONSCIOUSNESS IS AN ANCIENT MYSTERY OF FUNDAMENTAL IMPORTANCE TO HUMAN WELL-BEING, AS IT IS THE BASIS FOR OUR CAPACITY TO EXPERIENCE EMOTIONS, PAIN, PLEASURE, HUNGER, THIRST, AND ALL OF OUR SENSES. WITHOUT CONSCIOUSNESS, HUMANS WOULD LACK THESE EXPERIENCES. THIS YEAR, WE BEGAN TO ESTABLISH RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE TO APPLY A NEW METHOD TO UNDERSTAND WHAT PARTS OF THE BRAIN ARE NECESSARY FOR CONSCIOUS EXPERIENCE. OUR SECOND MISSION IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW NEURONS DIE IN NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES SUCH AS ALZHEIMER'S. NEURODEGENERATION IS ONE OF THE SCARIEST DISEASES ASSOCIATED WITH AGING... (CONTINUES BELOW)
    Expenses $2,848
  • ... AND ONE OF ITS WORST OUTCOMES IS THE LOSS OF MEMORY AND ABILITY THAT CONSTITUTES ONE'S IDENTITY AND, OVERALL, ONE'S SENSE OF SELF. THIS YEAR, WE BEGAN TO ESTABLISH RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE TO TEST WHETHER A NEW WAY OF KILLING NEURONS MIGHT BE A WAY THAT NEURONS DIE DURING THE PROGRESSION OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES
