Mission
REECH offers an adulting program for Teens And Young Adults (TAYA) who are aging out of foster care by providing housing, life skills education, career/job preparation, counseling, and a support system. REECH will supplement the Preparation for Adult Living classes with three signature programs: (1) monthly "Talking About Real Life" group discussions with distinguished local leaders, (2) annual "Suits and Sneakers Gala & Talent Extravaganza" where TAYA are presented to society as resilient overcomers who are ready to be productive citizens, heads of households, and exemplary employees and/or entrepreneurs, and (3) annual "Rolling YOUniversity Higher Education Texas Tours." Since foster care TAYA are eligible to attend colleges that are supported by the State of Texas tuition- and fee-free, these tours will greatly improve the dismal 3% college attendance rates that foster care TAYA currently show.
Program accomplishments
- Brenda Burleson Lynch-Fleming, the Founder/Director. was not allowed to proceed with EMPOWER (the Foster Care agency that serves Dallas; so, the organization moved operations to Ft. Worth. After moving there, the Ft. Worth Agency, OCOK (Our Community, Our Kids) required observations for SIL (Supervised Independent Living) homes along with several meetings of the OCOK Administration and management. They determined that REECH would be better fitted to open a regular foster care home but serve 14-18 year olds. So, security clearance and CPR certifications were completed, as required for the Director, house manager, and frequent visitors for the home. After the training, the homeowner (landlord) and the placement director had a disagreement and neither wanted to work with the other -- which left REECH stuck in the middle. Therefore, the REECH director began proceedings to buy the house from the landlord but could not begin serving TAYA during 2025!!
