Mission

Craft education through intensive residential workshops and other programs.

990-EZ for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, the school had two primary programs. The first consisted of eight blacksmithing classes during the summer, some running for two weeks with the rest running five days, and the second being the production of two 30-minute educational videos on blacksmithing techniques. The classes were a full eight hours each day and taught by some of the best instructors in the United States. Class subjects in 2025 were blacksmithing fundamentals, hammers and tongs, knives for the outdoors, forging from the natural world, tools for farm and garden, American axes, kitchen utensil design, and Zen and the art of hammer swinging. These workshops served the students in many ways, including: professional development for experienced craftsmen, introduction to the craft for novices, advanced development for avocational students, and training for folks who will go on to work at established shops around the country. The workshops are intensive and include some of the finest instructors in the nation to create deeply meaningful experiences for all participants.
