Program accomplishments

  • Organized weekly group rides for young riders in various locations, including the San Gabriel Mountains and desert ridges. These rides provided opportunities for skill development and team-building. Dozens of youth Riders participated in the group rides throughout the year and over a dozen parents/coaches also provided a safe environment for youth to grow as riders. Riders improved their biking skills, developed teamwork, and had fun exploring the outdoors.
  • The Pacific Crest Composite Mountain Bike Team implemented a Coach Training Program designed to enhance the skills of our volunteer coaches. This training focused on both advanced mountain biking techniques and effective youth development strategies. Coaches learned how to teach youth riders proper bike handling, safety, and maintenance, as well as how to foster personal growth, teamwork, and confidence in young riders. The training also emphasized creating a supportive, inclusive environment for youth athletes. There were nearly a dozen coaches/asst coaches that participated in this event. By the end of the program, coaches were equipped with both technical mountain biking skills and the knowledge to effectively mentor youth riders. This resulted in more confident coaches who were able to deliver engaging and educational sessions, ensuring a safe and positive environment for the young riders. The program contributed to a stronger, more capable coaching team and directly impacted the quality of training offered to youth participants, leading to improved skills and youth development.
