- WASHINGTON PLACE IS THE OFFICIAL RESIDENCE OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF HAWAII. WASHINGTON PLACE FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC OF THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF WASHINGTON PLACE IN HAWAII'S HISTORY AND TO PRESERVE AND RESTORE THIS NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK.Expenses $41,936
