Program accomplishments

  • The West Marin Lions Club holds monthly in-person meetings as well as via Zoom for those who are not able to attend in person. This provides more flexibility, and has resulted in more attendance at many of our meetings.Renewed energy and interest within the Club continues. The West Marin Lions participated in several health fairs this year and conducted vision screenings for adults and youth within the community. Significant funding from theLions Club of West Marin continues to be directed annually to youth services programming at the West Marin Community Services. The West Marin Lions Club continues to partner with Point Reyes Rotary and others to operate the youth center in Tomales; activities for local youth in Tomales take place at the Tomales Town Hall. As is the case each year, the Lions collected eyeglasses to send to our district eyeglass warehouse center; these eyeglasses are repaired and repurposed for distribution to people who are not able to afford new eyewear. The West Marin Lions Club continues to act as the fiscal sponsor for the Sembrando Vida project, an activity that isfocused on growing food and community within the local Latino community. The Sembrando Vida project hasdeveloped over the past year with infrastructure improvements and the planting of fruit trees and tomatos. Through the fiscal sponsorship arrangement, the West Marin Lions Club continues to help the project to move forward and grow. The Lions Club of West Marin continued our annual giving to several Tomales High School programs including the Boosters Club and the Class of 2027 Food Fundraiser held at Western Weekend. Additionally, support was provided to national programs (Lion in Sight and Lions Canine Companions for Independence.)The West Marin Lions sponsored the annual Western Weekend Parade which took place in June. This years parade continued to celebrate the agricultural roots of West Marin. Once again, attendance at this years parade matchedpre-pandemic levels with a large crowd enjoying the festivities. Members of the West Marin Lions also helped plan overall Western Weekend activities and donated many hours, along with other organizations and local stakeholders, to make Western Weekend a success.
