Mission
The Mission of The ARC-Solano is to promote the greatest personal growth, community understanding, and full participation of people with developmental disabilities and their families through support, education, and advocacy.
Program accomplishments
- The Arc-Solano has been empowering people with developmental disabilities since its founding in 1953. We currently have three Core Programs that are funded through North Bay Regional Center. Alternatives in Curriculum and Training (ACT) is a full-time behavioral management day program that was founded in 1986. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, 27 participants received services. We had over 400 community-based activities, and our curriculum included lessons in Person-Centered Thinking, Vocational Training, Self-Esteem, Anger Management, Community Access, and Social Skills. We use Positive Behavior Interventions Support (PBIS) to help guide consumers in making better choices. The fee for service income was approximately $897,000.Tailored Day Service (TDS) is a unique, community-based day program that focuses on volunteerism, employment skills, higher learning, and community integration. Tailored Day is exactly that- it is a program that is tailored to the consumer's needs and wants. For the 2024- 2025 fiscal year, we served 24 program participants, both in-person and by Zoom. Staff provided individualized programming to participants, based on what the participants wanted to learn about, but almost all instruction focused on some form of education and volunteering. We provided over 8,200 hours of service this year during 2,100+ appointments. The fee for service income was approximately $394,000.Transitional Service (TS) is an Independent Living Skills training program that was founded in 1976. For the 2024-2025 fiscal year, we served approximately 44 consumers. TS is designed to support individuals wishing to live independently. Most of our consumers already have their own homes, but we also help those who live with their families and wish to develop skills so they can contribute more to their homes. Areas of training include money management, executive functioning skills, household chores/maintenance, interpersonal skills, health management, and accessing other community supports and benefits like Social Security, Medi-Cal, andhousing. This year, we provided over 6,800 hours of service during more than 2,500 appointments. The fee for service income was approximately $392,000.We also have Art@Arc, which is our creative arts program. Established in 1995, this program provides participants with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere in which to explore their creative voices. The freedom to create and the freedom to make individual choices in this program are the cornerstones that provide our consumers with the opportunity to gain recognition and increase self-esteem. We currently offer three classes per week. We were very excited to participate in the 2024 Vallejo Open Studios exhibit, the Solano County Fair, and have shows at Personal Space Art Gallery, Temple Art Lofts, and the JFK Library in Vallejo. Program participants from any of our three Core Programs (ACT, TDS, TS) can choose to attend our Art@Arc classes.Expenses $1,436,620
