Program accomplishments
- The Academic Success Initiative ensures that every child we serve achieves on-time grade progression, graduates from high school, completes post-secondary education and earns a livable wage as a productive member of their community. Through our Academic Success Initiative, BGCMC educates youth on cultural awareness, science disciplines and art programs. In order to achieve this goal BGCMC offers a wide range of academic programs, from homework assistance to literacy intervention training for elementary school aged students. The traditional Boys & Girls Club after school program model has been expanded to support youth during the school day on school campuses. Through our Girls Health & Girls Hands Program and physical Clubhouses we offer clubhouse programs to youth while they are in school, educating youth with social-emotional programs, bullying awareness programs and physical fitness programs. While program practitioners are not licensed clinicians, there is evidence that when youth are engaged in safe, predictable, structured activities with caring adults, they can reduce anxiety, depression, and mitigate post traumatic stress disorder. In the Winter of 2025 we expanded service to young adult alumni with our Future Ready program. This program supports the alumni to enact the plan that they created with our College & Career Readiness program team. This program supports participants making connections in their chosen career field, monthly case management sessions for support and navigating challenges of emerging adulthood and maintaining a network of support.Expenses $2,301,311 · grants $115,308 · revenue $97,258
- The Health & Well-Being Initiative promotes wellness of youth and families. Targeted programs within the Health & Well-Being Initiative focus on prevention, with an emphasis on nutrition education, avoidance of risky behaviors, self awareness, recreation and teaching youth how to navigate through sensitive social situations. Emotional wellness check ins for youth occurred weekly throughout the school year of 2024-25, in person at the club facilities as well as through online afternoon programs. Utilizing the Skills Mastery and Resistance Training (SMART) Moves emotional wellness curriculum and other activities, BGCMC encouraged youth to maintain journals, communicate regularly with trusted individuals, and understand the benefits of meditation and yoga.In 2025 our program expanded services for Health & Well-Being to support students in school by offering physical fitness. In three schools we brought our Triple Play program to teach youth physical fitness and get them active during their school day. Partnering with local schools expanded our reach and gave youth in Monterey County more access to physical fitness and activities.Expenses $1,896,763
- The Character & Leadership Initiative develops strong leaders and encourages youth to become community-minded individuals, engaged and informed. BGCMC staff consistently model good character and encourage youth to make positive choices and serve others. Youth of the Month and Youth of the Year programs emphasize servant leadership, community involvement and public service. Members receive public recognition and a platform to champion important initiatives. Youth of the Year is a BGCA program that shines light on the impact Boys & Girls Clubs have on America's youth locally and nationally. Our programming also gives youth a chance to give back to their club and community through our service-based leadership clubs; Keystone & Torch Club. Members worked to create fun events for their peers and educational events for families. These members serve as leaders in their clubhouses.Expenses $920,685
