Mission
OUR MISSION STATEMENT IS TO BUILD BRIDGES OF EMPATHY, HEALING AND INSIGHT BETWEEN THE INCARCERATED AND THE PUBLIC.
Program accomplishments
- EMPATHY IN ACTION IS A VOLUNTEER-BASED CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION THAT SERVES PRISONERS AROUND CALIFORNIA. OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST YEAR, THE PROGRAM GREW FROM 15-20 VOLUNTEERS PER SESSION OF 8-WEEKS TO 35-40 VOLUNTEERS. THE PROGRAM RECEIVED A SERVICE AWARD INSIDE CTF SOLEDAD PRISON, SAYING IT IS THE MOST POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE PRISON REHABILITATION PROGRAM EVER OFFERED INSIDE. THIS IS LARGELY DUE TO THE OUTSIDE VOLUNTEER'S COMMITMENT TO THE PROGRAM AND CARE FOR THE PRISONERS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, WE ALSO STARTED CONVERSATIONS AROUND EXPANDING THE PROGRAM INTO A MAXIMUM SECURITY AND THE ONE AND ONLY WOMEN'S PRISON IN CALIFORNIA - CCWF.Expenses $168,462 · grants $218
