Mission

Making the world a better place for people with disabilities through the power of storytelling.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • DisEDU In 2024, Everable launched DisEDU, piloting in Kenya to build the worlds largest oral history archive of people with intellectual disabilities. We collected 97 oral histories, co-led by disabled narrators, and used them to engage 1,400 students and 213 parents across seven counties, including Kilifi and Kajiado where infanticide remains a risk. We conducted a stigma survey with 3,670 respondents in the central and eastern counties, installed a mobile studio in Nyahururu, and trained 47 advocates in film and documentary practice. We also began developing the Disability Film Atlas, a global database mapping films where disability plays a central role, highlighting gaps in representation for future scholarship and advocacy.
    Expenses $148,026
  • DisTV Everable initiated its 50-year goal of producing a disability-inclusive film in every country. In 2024, in the US, we moved a feature-length film on prison disability impediments into production. We also partnered with LArche GWDC on a national PSA campaign, producing 18 hours of interviews on loneliness and friendship among americans with intellectual disabilities. We opened a dedicated U.S. film studio for training and production, including intensive mentorship of an intern with an intellectual disability. We pioneered a camera-to-cloud workflow with a quadriplegic editor in Australia, expanding inclusive global collaboration. Everable was invited to Apple to explore disability-inclusive VR filmmaking and participated in the IASSIDD Congress, strengthening academic and professional networks.
    Expenses $40,093
  • DisAID Everable connects underfunded disability groups with industry leaders. In 2024, we contributed to a policy victory in Indiana that screened in the State House receiving bipartisan support and helping preserve attendant care services for hoosiers with disabilities. Through our U.S. and Kenyan studio initiatives, we trained and mentored disability advocates in filmmaking, documentary practice, and technical production, providing tools to reduce stigma and strengthen advocacy. We expanded access to professional-grade infrastructure, ensuring grassroots groups can collaborate with industry partners and amplify their impact. By linking visionary but under-resourced leaders with media and policy expertise, DisAID positioned Everable as a bridge for global disability inclusion.
    Expenses $5,660 · revenue $25,000
