Mission

Harper's Home provides free, short-term housing in Durham, North Carolina for families with a child receiving treatment at Duke Children's Hospital. Through fully furnished private residences, the organization enables families to remain together close to care, reducing the financial and logistical burden of extended medical treatment and supporting timely access to critical services.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2025

Program accomplishments

  • Harper's Home launched its West Maynard Housing Program in 2025 to provide free, short-term housing in fully furnished private homes for families with a child receiving treatment at Duke Children's Hospital. Families are referred through hospital social workers and travel more than 40 miles for care, often requiring multi-week stays. From September through December 2025, the program served three families and provided 222 nights of housing at no cost. Each home includes two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and living space, allowing families to remain together in a stable, private environment during treatment. The program supports timely access to care and reduces the financial and logistical burden of extended medical stays.
    Expenses $86,845
